A peculiar problem started occurring this weekend, the Catalyst Control Center refused to open. I would right click the desktop then click the CCC from the context menu and all I would receive in return was an hourglass. Uninstall/Reinstalling did not help.
Oddly enough, as soon as I had tried to open my CCC my SteelSeries engine stopped working.
Initialization of SteelSeries Engine failed. |
After a few google searches I ran across this thread at Tom's Hardware which held the solution to my CCC problem:

Particularly, this post:
First make sure you have framework 4 installed.
Then go to the registry editor (start>run>regedit), find the next folder: KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/.NETFRAMEWORK, create a string value "OnlyUseLatestCLR" and set the value to 1, only 1.
Restart
Good luck!
