I've been eagerly awaiting the release of BF4 and the beta is finally here! I'll spare the fluff talk and get
straight to the points.
straight to the points.
- Graphics were to be as expected for a Beta. (non high res textures)
- Performance was a bit worse than I was expecting for a beta.
- I was disappointed by the gun sounds. It seems to be a step back from the previous series. They sound very "Call of Dutyish", as in they sound like fireworks exploding as opposed to authenticate gun sounds.
- Squad leaders' orders are much more pronounced. Squad orders now show up on the minimap. (similar to BF2142)
- People playing squad leaders are still not issuing orders. Hopefully this will improve once the commander role is live.
- Gun play/handling is good. Feels better than BF3 to me.
That is all for now. I will be adding more posts as my play time continues.
You will find the following commands useful for keeping an eye on your framerate in Battlefield 4:
- PerfOverlay.DrawFPS 1
- PerfOverlay.Enable 1
- PerfOverlay.DrawGraph 1
As always, make sure you are running the latest drivers for your video card. This means that you must be running the BETA drivers for each respective company, whether you roll with the red team or green team.
For the #BF4 PC beta use the Radeon 13.10 Beta2 drivers (http://t.co/567ali23Ll) & Geforce 331.40 Beta drivers (http://t.co/RqyZIyy51H)

The #BF4 PC beta is a beta, not all graphics options are hooked up or tweaked yet and performance is not final. But please do test the game
