Report: Sony Ditching Cell For PS4

When the PlayStation 4 launches it won't use the famous Cell processor, according to a new report.

Citing games industry sources, Kotaku says Sony's new console will not use Cell or any possible successor. The sources back up a Forbes report from last week that says the PlayStation 4 will instead go with chip manufacturer AMD for the still-unannounced console's GPU.

When will we see PS4? Who knows. Sony repeatedly stated it has no plans to show any new hardware at E3 this year. The company declined to comment on these reports.
